The ASLA Professional & Student Awards are programs of the ASLA Fund.

The ASLA Fund is the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the American Society of Landscape Architects, supported by the tax-deductible contributions of ASLA members and other individuals and organizations, and committed to the careful stewardship and artful design of our cultural and natural environment. The Fund’s mission is to expand the body of knowledge of the landscape architecture profession and increase public understanding of environmental and land-use issues and principles. Its work supports public and professional education and outreach, professional and student awards programs, and special projects that provide real-world demonstrations of core values like the ASLA Green Roof and Chinatown Green Street.

By submitting your Entry, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

License Grant

You hereby grant ASLA a non-exclusive irrevocable, perpetual, transferable, royalty-free and worldwide license and right to use, reproduce, distribute, transfer, license, sub-license, reprint, publish and display your Entry, or any part thereof, either alone or as part of a compilation with other works, electronically or otherwise, on social media platforms, on ASLA’s websites; in Landscape Architecture Magazine, in ASLA blogs, emails, brochures, and newsletters; and in presentations (including without limitation, live, recorded and/or streaming presentations, broadcasts, conferences, events, and webinars) given by ASLA and its National representatives.

This license includes the right to distribute and sub-license your Entry to the Library of Congress for archival purposes, and to distribute and sub-license your Entry to the media.

ASLA agrees to include the following attribution in publications of your Entry. ASLA will also require any media publishing your Entry material to include the same attribution.

For Professional Awards: ASLA award category and type, project name, location, firm or institution name, and photographer name(s).

For Student Awards: ASLA award category and type, project name, location, student name(s), and photographer name(s).

Representations and Warranties

You represent and warrant to ASLA that:

  • You are the sole and original owner of all written text in your Entry and all intellectual property rights therein. If your Entry contains any photography, graphics, renderings, drawings, and/or images (collectively, “Images”), you either are the sole and original creator of the Images, or you possess the right from the photographers or other creators to grant the license to ASLA described above. Any required privacy rights of persons appearing in the Images have been obtained.
  • The Entry does not and will not infringe the copyright, intellectual property rights, privacy rights or other rights of any third party, person, or entity, and is not defamatory or contrary to law.
  • You have given proper attribution to all photographers or other creators of Images in your Entry.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ASLA, its officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any damages, liabilities, costs and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, it may sustain as a result of any breach of the foregoing representations.

ASLA reserves the right to edit any and all submission text for clarity and concision.
