ASLA and Walt Disney Imagineers invite students and educators to DREAM BIG with Design using the new, ASLA DREAM BIG with Design Special Edition - an imaginative, hands-on learning experience inspired by Walt Disney Imagineer, Jennifer Mok, ASLA. Developed through a collaborative partnership led by Mok, this new Career Discovery resource is a product of presentations from the 2021 and 2022 DREAM BIG with Design conferences. 

The ASLA DREAM BIG with Design Special Edition supports STEM learning by engaging students in design thinking, sustainability, and equity as they reimagine the iconic Disneyland Hub and explore how landscape architects transform ideas from concept to paper.

Simply download sheets from the Disney Paper Parks ASLA DREAM BIG with Design Special Edition packet of your choice, share our images below for inspiration, and start designing (no experience required).

  1. Assemble the park parameters to create your design base.

  2. Color, cut out, and arrange the features you want to use.

Explore Landscape Architecture at Walt Disney

Students, design professionals, and educators are encouraged to supplement their DREAM BIG with Design Paper Parks experience with a two-part virtual introduction to Disney Parks led by Walt Disney Imagineer Jennifer Mok, ASLA. Mok and her team of landscape architects take attendees through an exploration of the history, planning process, and neighborhood design that give Disneyland its magic.

Student Imagineers

ASLA K-12 Committee member Brooke Freeman recently piloted ASLA's DREAM BIG with Design Special Edition of Disney Paper Parks in a two-day program that engaged three classes in exploring landscape architecture through a blend of math and design thinking. 

On Day 1, students participated in three short sessions introducing what landscape architects design, examining examples of public spaces, and connecting area and perimeter to real-world design by measuring simple plans. 

Day 2 featured a one-hour hands-on design/build workshop where students sketched neighborhood layouts, then constructed and customized 3D buildings and site elements. Students demonstrated strong ownership and authentic spatial problem-solving, asking thoughtful design questions throughout.
