Beyond Boundaries
ASLA 2025: Expanding the influence, strengthening the foundation, and delivering the expertise that moves the profession forward.

Listening to a Profession in Motion
My travels in 2025 — engaging with chapters, members, and communities — showed proof of what we all know is true: landscape architecture is moving with incredible momentum.
In conversation, I heard similar themes: landscape architecture is stepping into the conversation, ready to take the stage. We are at the center of the most important issues facing our society. Landscape architects advance climate resilience and biodiversity, create economic development, and design safe, cohesive, and meaningful spaces for us all.
In 2025, ASLA’s work was guided by this reality. We spent the year listening, learning, and expanding our focus to meet the evolving needs of a profession in motion.

Leading the Movement
A profession moving beyond boundaries must be a profession rooted in empathy. 2025 President Kona Gray offers a grounding perspective on the human heart of our collective progress.
“When we move together, we don’t just shift perception; we create a new reality for the communities we represent.”

Beyond Boundaries
Advancing the Reach of Landscape Architecture
In 2025, ASLA took our work where it has never been before—leaning into broader public conversations, deeper civic partnerships, and more consequential national dialogue. We grew our impact by reaching into new rooms, engaging more media, and amplifying more voices. From global climate stages to national prime-time television, landscape architecture is moving beyond traditional boundaries to lead in more places and impact more lives.
