Michigan State University: 125 Years of Excellence in Landscape Architecture Education

The year was 1898. The iconic Nabisco company was founded in Chicago. The legendary Hollywood talent agency William Morris was founded in New York City. The venerable engineering firm Bechtel was founded in San Francisco. And the nation’s first undergraduate academic program in landscape architecture was established at Michigan State University (MSU).

On October 6, 2023, MSU’s Landscape Architecture Alumni Advisory Board in conjunction with the MSU LA program will celebrate the Landscape Architecture program’s 125th Anniversary or "LAnniversary." The LAnniversary will be a special day-long celebration of the program’s past, present, and future. The celebration will take place MSU's East Lansing, MI campus with most activities taking place in the MSU Student Union or the nearby home of SPDC, the Human Ecology Building. The program’s keynote speaker is David Rubin, FASLA, and founding principal of David Rubin Land Collective. MSU alumni Bob Chipman and Danny Bulemore will lead a campus sketch crawl for Alumni and Students.
