A presidential forum series

Groundwork: Conversations Shaping the Profession

Groundwork is ASLA’s 2026 presidential forum series, convening members around timely, consequential issues shaping landscape architecture today.

These virtual conversations — open to all — focus on the forces actively reshaping practice today, from artificial intelligence and workforce dynamics to how firms integrate emerging professionals.

Rather than focusing on a single subject or region, this year’s Groundwork sessions address issues affecting firms, students, and professionals nationwide. Through these discussions, ASLA seeks to better understand how to support members as they navigate change and strengthen the profession’s long-term resilience.

How Groundwork Conversations Work

Each Groundwork session is a moderated conversation led by ASLA President Bradley McCauley, FASLA, PLA, and a panel of practitioners, educators, and emerging professionals.

No presentations or slides—just focused, candid dialogue grounded in real-world experience. The format prioritizes exchange over lecture, with audience questions curated in real time to keep the discussion sharp, relevant, and responsive.
