ASLA Fund Receives $75,000 Contribution from Honda
Greening Communities with Landscape Advisory Panels (LAPs)
The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Fund has announced a $75,000 contribution from Honda to support Greening Communities with Landscape Advisory Panels (LAPs). The contribution will help advance the organization’s work to provide underserved communities with expert-design technical assistance. This assistance will help them plan high-impact, nature-based solutions that reduce carbon emissions, manage extreme heat, and improve local air and water quality.
The Honda contribution will support the development of five to six Landscape Advisory Panels (LAPs) across the United States. These panels are specifically designed to help communities that have the will to implement nature-based solutions—such as urban forests and bioswales—but lack the initial planning resources to qualify for large-scale federal and state infrastructure funding. By providing this "early stage" design expertise, the ASLA Fund and Honda are empowering local communities to compete for the billions of dollars available in climate resilience grants, ultimately leading to healthier, more equitable, and more resilient neighborhoods.
Honda is focused on reducing carbon emissions, utilizing clean energy, conserving resources, and helping nature thrive as part of its commitment to creating a better world for future generations. Through its Environment pillar, Honda supports programs that align with its mission to reduce environmental impact.
