All 50 states and the District of Columbia require landscape architects to be licensed to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Licensure is administered by state licensing boards and the national Landscape Architect Registration Exam (L.A.R.E.) is administered by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB).

ASLA is committed to helping you succeed in the landscape architect licensure exams. We offer essential resources and expert guidance to make your L.A.R.E. preparation more effective and affordable.

  • Consult CLARB’s licensure requirements map and exam eligibility map.
  • If you have uncertainty involving your particular education and experience, contact the licensure board in the jurisdiction where you wish to become licensed.
