Pulse Poll: Workforce Conditions Affecting Practice

Recent immigration enforcement activity is creating new questions for the landscape and construction workforce. ASLA’s Pulse Poll asks members to share how these conditions are affecting project delivery, costs, and business operations.

Landscape architecture depends on a complex workforce that spans design, construction, installation, and long-term maintenance. In recent months, immigration enforcement activity has occurred at construction sites, building supply centers, and other locations associated with the construction and landscaping industries. These conditions can introduce uncertainty around workforce availability and affect landscape architecture firms, design-build firms, and architecture, engineering, and multidisciplinary practices involved in project delivery and construction coordination.

More than 20% of ASLA members work in design-build or multidisciplinary firms, where workforce availability during construction and installation phases can directly influence project delivery and business performance. In parallel, ASLA members and chapters nationwide have shared questions and accounts about how these conditions are affecting workforce availability in their regions.

ASLA is conducting this brief poll to better understand how resulting workforce conditions are affecting the practice and business of landscape architecture, based on member experience. The questions focus on observable, operational impacts, such as project schedules, costs, and business decisions.

Responses will be reported in aggregate and used to identify trends affecting the profession and to inform ASLA’s member resources, practice guidance, and industry engagement.

The poll below will close on Friday, January 23.
