ASLA 2024 Preview: Professional Practice Network Events in D.C.

September 26, 2024

ASLA Professional Practice Network (PPN) leaders and members share their experiences and expertise as authors for The Field and as presenters for ASLA Online Learning webinars all throughout the year, but for a few very special days each fall, PPNs also organize in-person gatherings at the ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture.

If you are heading to Washington, D.C., next weekend (!), the PPN meetings are an ideal way to see the PPNs in action and get a sense of what these practice area-focused groups for ASLA members are all about.

Make the most of your PPN experience at the conference by exploring what’s planned and get ready to make new connections in D.C.:

Monday, October 7

10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

12:30 – 1:15 p.m.

Tuesday, October 8

10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

12:00 – 12:45 p.m.

1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

To start building your schedule, download the conference mobile app by scanning the QR code or go to the Apple Store or Google Play Store and search for ASLA Conference.

  • Install and open the app. Find the 2024 event icon in the Upcoming Events (bottom row) or search for ASLA 2024.
  • Tap the event icon to launch the 2024 app.
  • Login with your email and confirmation ID (your badge number). The confirmation ID is located at the top of your registration confirmation email and on your conference badge.

Browse the program and create a personal schedule by tapping the star next to program titles. Please note: events with a ticket icon require an additional ticket purchase. Enable notifications to receive live updates about key events and information during the conference.

PPN membership is not required to attend PPN events at the conference—all are welcome! Already a member of one PPN, but curious about another? Or not sure which PPN to choose (all ASLA members receive one PPN membership for free—you can check which one you’re in by logging in to asla.org)? You are welcome to attend as many PPN events as you like.

For more conference content from the PPNs, see these previous posts for education session highlights by PPN practice area.

If your interest has been sparked by the PPNs at the conference, consider joining your PPN's leadership team to stay involved year-round!

You may have noticed that not all 20 Professional Practice Networks are represented on the events list above—one way to remedy this for future conferences is by volunteering as a PPN leader. Having more members step up to the leadership level helps to ensure that the PPNs have a presence at the conference, and also that the PPN is active throughout the year, with regular blog posts for The Field, webinars and other virtual events, and opportunities for members to engage.

See you in D.C.!
