Jean Senechal Biggs, FASLA, is a skilled and effective advocate for streets where walking, biking, and riding public transit are green, safe and equitable. Her career has spanned nearly 30 years planning, designing and building transit and transportation projects. Today, Jean leads the Resource Development Division at Metro, the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Portland area. With her team, she collaborates with agencies across the region to coordinate and plan investments in the transportation system.
Jean has dedicated hundreds of hours in service to the landscape architecture community, sharing her voice and expertise on numerous committees, activities, and publications within ASLA. She served on the Oregon Chapter’s Executive Committee between 2014 and 2023 with roles as Education Chair, Chapter President, and Trustee, and she currently serves as the National ASLA Vice President of Professional Practice. A New England native, Jean earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon.
