Distance Education: Tips on Creating a Proof of Competency (Quiz)

In order to earn professional development hours (PDH) from a prerecorded webinar or distance education session, attendees must pass a short quiz. The quizzes are to ensure that the attendees are present and engaged for the webinar, not to rigorously test them.

A test must have a minimum of 10 questions with a pass/ fail of 75 percent. A minimum of two additional questions are required for each additional hour.

Examples of starters to help frame your multiple-choice questions include:

  • What does the term …
  • Which of the following are….
  • Select the three…
  • How does “x” directly impact “y”…
  • Which of the following is NOT a…
  • “True/False” questions begin with a statement for quiz-taker to assess based directly on information from the webinar. A good rule of thumb is to generally use about half as many true/false questions as multiple choice.
