Projects and Initiatives Seeking Landscape Architects This Summer

Women of Color Licensure Advancement Program

Deadline: July 21, 2024

Apply to be part of the 2024-26 Women of Color Licensure Advancement Program cohort. This program supports women of color pursuing licensure and increases racial and gender diversity within the profession. Now in its third year, the program will provide 10 women of color with a two-year, personalized experience that includes up to $3,500 to cover the cost of sections of the Landscape Architectural Registration Exam (LARE), along with funding for and access to exam preparation courses and resources, and mentorship from a licensed landscape architect.

Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) Challenge

Deadline: July 31, 2024

The annual HALS Challenge competition encourages landscape architects, students, and other interested parties to document historic landscapes in their communities. To enter the competition, participants must complete a historical report that highlights the history, significance, and character-defining features of the surveyed landscape. This report can be supplemented with measured drawings or large-format photographs. All competition entries are archived in the HALS collection at the Library of Congress where they contribute to the nation’s largest repository of documentation on American architecture, engineering, and landscapes.

WxLA Scholarship Call for Nominations and Self-Nominations

Deadline: August 1, 2024

The WxLA Scholarship aims to support the professional development and success of emerging and mid-career leaders in the field of landscape architecture. This award for emerging and mid-career landscape architecture professionals funds costs associated with attending the ASLA 2024 Conference on Landscape Architecture.

RFP: Proposals for Enabling Infrastructure and Streetscape Design Phase One - Villiers Island

Deadline: August 8, 2024

The Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation in collaboration with the City of Toronto invites prospective firms to submit Proposals for Enabling Infrastructure and Streetscape Design Phase One - Villiers Island. This team will be designing the streetscapes and enabling infrastructure that will set new standards for sustainability, innovation, accessibility, design excellence and Indigenous place-keeping.

RFP: February 13, 2023 Permanent Memorial

Deadline: August 30, 2024

Michigan State University is seeking qualified creatives, artists, landscape architects, or teams who can successfully execute the scope of services for this project. In the wake of the violence of Feb. 13, 2023, Michigan State University established the Feb. 13 Memorial Planning Committee. Made up of members from across the university, this sub-committee of the Public Art On Campus Committee engaged stakeholders to gather insights on creating a permanent memorial, with support from The National Charrette Institute and MSU's Trauma Services and Training Network.

Planning Washington: Capital and Community

On view through September 1, 2024

How has our past shaped the nation’s capital we see today? The National Capital Planning Commission’s Centennial exhibit, Planning Washington: Capital and Community, offers an opportunity to understand how ambitions to create an inspiring and beautiful city have wrestled with the reality of responding to the needs of all residents. The exhibit is on display at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC. A companion digital exhibit is also available.
