RFP for Design & Engineering Services: Owámniyomni (St. Anthony Falls), Minneapolis MN

Date: 1/9/2024 - 3/22/2024

Type: RFPs / RFQs

LA CES approved?: No

Location(s): US

Description:

Owámniyomni Okhódayapi (formerly Friends of the Falls) is requesting proposals for a Design & Engineering Services Consultant Team to work on the cultural and environmental restoration of 5.2 acres of riverfront land at Owámniyomni (St. Anthony Falls) on the Mississippi Riverfront in downtown Minneapolis.

Owámniyomni Okhódayapi is transforming the long inaccessible land around the Upper St. Anthony Lock & Dam into a place of healing, restoration, education, and connection. The project will give presence to Dakota stories and values that have been forgotten or actively silenced at this site and along the Mississippi River corridor. We seek a skilled multidisciplinary Consultant Team committed to changing the narrative of colonization through transformative design, and caring for land and water in keeping with the principles that we are all relatives and water is life.

Proposals are due by March 22, 2024 at 4:30pm Minneapolis time.

We recognize that this RFP requires two kinds of services: those suited to large multidisciplinary design and engineering firms and those requiring deeply cultural competencies typically held by individuals or small firms that are local and rooted in place. To support you finding each other in the teaming process, we have included an OPTIONAL Teaming Directory form on the procurement page. Be sure to read about it there, and consider participating.

Pidámayaye ye (thank you) for your interest in joining us as we Indigenize the River.
