Magdalena Aravena, ASLA

A first-generation immigrant from Chile, Magdalena is a licensed landscape architect with almost eight years of experience in practice. She is the recipient of the 2021 ASLA Emerging Professional Medal. Shortly after becoming licensed, Magdalena felt empowered to step out on her own to launch her design firm, Studio Siembra. With her unique perspective, curiosity and experience, this venture is focused on the pursuit of more just and inclusive spaces through education, advocacy, and collaborative design.

 
Aymer
Valerie Aymer, ASLA

Valerie is a licensed landscape architect with 20 years of experience in private consulting and academia. She joined the faculty of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Cornell University in 2015 where she teaches several technical courses, including site engineering. She is also a member of the NYS Board for Landscape Architecture, a Cornell Botanic Gardens Faculty Fellow, a member of the Black Landscape Architects Network (BlackLAN), and a participant in ASLA’s Diversity Summit program.

Gloria Lau, ASLA

Gloria is a landscape architect and urban planner, working at the intersection of urban landscape, resilient infrastructure, and equitable design. She is currently an Associate at Stantec New York City office, focusing on large-scale public space and resiliency projects. Lau is an Urban Design Forum Forefront Fellow, serves on the design committee of New City Parks, and a member at NEW INC.

Janelle Johnson, ASLA

Janelle is a professional landscape architect with OLIN. She has over 15 years of experience in designing and managing projects of all scales and typologies. Working both domestically and internationally, she is inspired by the opportunity to create landscapes that foster community, democratize space, and connect people to nature, using historical and cultural cues to guide her design sensibility.

Donnie Longenecker, ASLA

Donnie is a landscape architect, entrepreneur, and educator. He has almost 30 years of experience in professional practice with a wide variety of roles and projects. During his time at the University of Georgia (UGA), he has taught almost every class in the curricula while also directing continuing education programs and the UGA LARE review.

Wendy J. Miller, FASLA, PLA

Wendy has over thirty years of experience in the public sector working in community design, transportation planning and policy, project development, and community engagement. In 2016, she started her own small consulting firm striving to create humane transportation infrastructure.

Marq Truscott, FASLA

Marq has practiced landscape architecture for almost 40 years and is licensed in the states of California, Nevada, and Wisconsin. He is President of RQ Studio, a land development and design firm with offices in California and Wisconsin. In addition to managing RQ Studio, he lectures in the landscape architecture program at the University of California, Davis and serves on their Advisory Board.
