Landscape Architects Need Post-Pandemic Product Education

EXPO at the ASLA 2019 Conference on Landscape Architecture in San Diego / EPNAC

The go-go 2021-2022 economy demands information and innovation from suppliers. The fastest way to teach about product features – while fostering new working relationships – is the annual ASLA EXPO.

The pandemic gave many suppliers to the landscape architecture industry time to innovate. This, fortunately, coincides with a time when the profession itself is building outdoor spaces at a record pace. These spaces are increasingly important for the health and well-being of the public.

But the industry was robbed of something for more than a year: in-office lunch-and-learns, as well as the 2020 ASLA conference. Neither happened due to COVID-19, which makes the upcoming ASLA Annual Conference on Landscape Architecture in 2021 (Nashville, November 19-22) all the more important.

This meeting provides the three most concentrated days of learning known to the profession. Thousands of landscape architects converge annually in one place to earn continuing education units in educational sessions. But in addition to that, they also gather important information on products and services that helps them do their jobs better.

As this will be the first ASLA conference and trade show in two years there will be a lot to learn. The EXPO floor should be abuzz with new ideas and new products.

There are several means by which industry providers can educate landscape architects. Those include:

  • Companies that have appropriate material and instructors who qualify can offer courses through the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System, LA CES. (See for more information.)
  • Simply have a kick-butt booth that is as educational as it is eye-catching, keeping in mind that designers are always drawn to smart display aesthetics.
