Ravindra Bhan: A Pioneer Of Landscape Architecture In India Passed Away

"Professor Ravindra Bhan, a pioneer in the field of landscape architecture in India passed away on February 15, 2020, at the age of 88. His demise created a big void in this noble profession which will be difficult to fill. The first formal training in landscape architecture in India was established by Professor Ravindra Bhan with the support of Ford Foundation at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi. He also headed the newly created Department of Landscape Architecture at the SPA from 1972 to 76."

 "The Lancet Planetary Health published an intriguing study by Huaqing Wang and Louis G Tassinary on how the shape of greenspace in a Philadelphia neighborhood relates to mortality reduction. This was based on landcover images, census tract data on causes of death, and residence in a neighborhood with green spaces bigger than 900 square feet."

Braasch and Miller said they have been working to improve 'retention and academic success of students of color' by creating a more 'welcome and 'inclusive environment' in the Stuckeman School. The professors have planned an orientation for students of color along with small activities where they can 'vent' and 'share their experiences.' "
