Mroz Chosen as 2019-2020 President-Elect

Thomas L. Mroz, FASLA, has been elected 2019-2020 president-elect by ASLA Full/Fellow, Associate, and International members. He will be sworn in as president-elect at the 2019 Conference on Landscape Architecture this fall and as president at the 2020 meeting in Miami.

Mroz is a Senior Vice President with the integrated design firm, SmithGroup. He has spent his entire 35-year career at SmithGroup, working in numerous positions from entry-level landscape architect, senior landscape architect, project manager, studio leader, director of operations to his current position as director of the firm’s Ann Arbor office. His work style encompasses an analytical approach and a passion for teamwork, with a strong belief that an integrated team can accomplish much more than any one individual.

“It is both an honor and a privilege to serve ASLA in this capacity. I look forward to working with all of our members to advance the profession of landscape architecture and the important work that we do,” says Mroz.

ASLA received 3,287 votes from eligible members—1,316 paper ballots and 1,971 electronic ballots. These votes represent 27.2 percent of eligible voters.
