ASLA Fund Indirect Cost Policy

The American Society of Landscape Architects Fund (ASLA Fund) is a charitable entity and is not committed to matching the indirect cost rates of universities, the U.S government, or other entities. The ASLA Fund’s Indirect Cost Policy helps ensure furtherance of our charitable purpose.

ASLA will pay reasonable indirect cost rates for research and project grants. Such indirect cost rates shall include only those costs that are allocable to the grant project, and may be applied on direct labor costs, subcontractor charges, supplies, and equipment. Indirect costs shall not be applied to travel and travel-related expenses.

ASLA reserves the right to make a determination of allowable indirect cost rates on a case-by-case basis. However, the maximum indirect cost rate that the ASLA Fund will pay for research and project grants is 12%.

This Indirect Cost Rate policy applies to both the primary applicant organization, as well as any involved affiliates, subgrantees, and/or subcontractors.

Note that the 12% indirect cost rate is the maximum rate permitted; a grantee or contractor with an actual indirect costs that result in a rate that is lower than the maximum rate may not increase the funding request to the maximum allowed.
