Why Firm Leaders Should Invest in Their Employees—and Emerging Professionals Should Join ASLA

ASLA is proud to launch two new interactive resources developed in collaboration with the Associate Advisory Committee (AAC).

These tools are designed to support both emerging professionals and firm leaders in making the most of ASLA membership.

Why Emerging Professionals Should Join ASLA

The “Become an EP Member” resource guides firms and professionals through associate membership categories, perks, and onboarding tips. This resource is tailored to help new hires ease into the profession with clarity and confidence.

  • Get an early-career boost: EP or Associate members enjoy robust support for transitioning from academia to practice: discounted LARE prep materials, mentorship, discounted access to ASLA’s annual conference, online learning, and more.
  • Grow your network and reach: By engaging with Professional Practice Networks, chapter committees, events, and committees like the ASLA Associate Advisory Committee, EPs and Associate members gain experience, develop leadership skills, build networks, and amplify their voices in the profession.

Why Firms Should Invest in EP Membership

The “Support EP Membership” resource equips firm leaders with tools and messaging to advocate membership benefits internally—50% of firms already realize the value membership brings and pay their employees’ dues.

  • Strengthen skills and effectiveness: When firm leaders commit to ASLA EP membership for their emerging professionals, they unlock tools that help new professionals access continuing education and gain access to research and resources, such as the ASLA Business Toolkit and Standard Form Contracts to get business done more effectively.
  • Elevate firm visibility: Emerging professionals who engage through ASLA’s professional practice networks and advocacy initiatives build reputations and experience as leaders as well as brand awareness and credibility for the firms they represent.

Acknowledgments

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Associate Advisory Committee (AAC) members Nicole Beard and Suzanne Sharp for their hard work and collaboration on these resources as well as AAC Chair Estello Raganit for leading the charge for emerging professionals. Be sure check out Estello’s Member Spotlight feature, too.
