Executive Administrator

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) seeks to design a more sustainable, livable, and beautiful world. Landscape architects create city master plans, design ecosystems, develop innovative park projects like the High Line in New York City, roll out bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and renew residential landscapes. ASLA represents some 16,000 landscape architects in the U.S. and around the world.

Nature of the Position

Provides administrative and strategic program planning support to the ASLA executive vice president, national officers, and Board of Trustees. Serves as corporate secretary of the Society and corporate secretary of the ASLA Fund (Library and Education Advocacy Fund).

• Organizes meetings, prepares schedules and agendas, coordinates/reviews meeting materials, and prepares meeting summaries and minutes; conducts national officer elections, special elections, and other ballots of the professional membership, Board of Trustees, and Executive Committee; manages the annual committee appointment process; maintains the ASLA Constitution and Bylaws, Code of Professional Ethics and Code of Environmental Ethics, administrative policies, meeting minutes, records of volunteer service, and other official records as required.

• Serves as staff liaison to the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, Ethics Committee, Nominating Committee, Tellers Committee, and other volunteer groups as required, including support for the executive vice president as staff liaison to IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects).

• Provides back-up to and coordinates work as needed with the Special Assistant to the EVP, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

BA degree; or equivalent training and experience.

Minimum of 8 years' experience in nonprofit/association governance and administration. Experience in taking minutes.

Proficiency in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office computer applications required; experience with Adobe, Macromedia Dreamweaver and basic html programming helpful.
