Puddingstone Garden

Roxbury puddingstone is a natural resource. Outcroppings are found throughout Boston and neighboring towns. Roxbury’s open spaces, especially its Urban Wilds, have some of the highest exposure of puddingstone. The park was designed by the Janis Porter and Elaine Dunune of Community Outreach Group for Landscape Design.

The Puddingstone Garden is a small neighborhood park just off of Boston’s longest boulevard, Blue Hill Avenue. I’m not sure how the park got its name. There is no formal garden in this park, nor is there a significant exposure of puddingstone comparatively. Nonetheless, you will find a restful, well-shaded, green oasis located in this active residential neighborhood.
