Fairsted, Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site

Located 5 miles from downtown Boston is Fairsted, a national park made famous by its former owner: Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of the nation's first planned urban parks and father of American landscape architecture.

Fairsted was not just home to the Olmsted family, but also the first full-scale professional landscape architecture office, which remained there until 1980. The site offers a history of the profession and a living study of the ideas that changed the way Americans think about the outdoors.

Fairsted is accessible via a 15-minute walk from MBTA public transportation Green D line Brookline Hills stop.
