Kevin W. Fitzgerald Park

Named for a beloved statesman and local hero, Kevin W. Fitzgerald Park is an icon of Mission Hill. The landscape design for this urban neighborhood park was inspired by the local context and history. Visitors are drawn into the site through a gated entrance on St. Alphonsus Street, marked by pillars carved out of native puddingstone.

A series of arcing pathways weave along the gentle slopes through wildflower meadows and along historic quarry walls. Arriving at a generous crowned lawn at the hilltop, the park offers expansive views of downtown Boston.  Undulating landforms direct movement and define intimate, human scale spaces within the larger expanse of the park.
