The Advocacy Summit is an annual event that brings together representatives from 30+ chapters to discuss and build upon chapter government affairs and advocacy efforts focused at the state and local level. Attendees learn about the current political and legislative environment, as it relates to licensure and other issues, and receive training on best practices in government affairs and advocacy.
In 2013, ASLA convened its first Diversity Summit with the goal of developing a deeper understanding of why landscape architecture is failing to attract a more diverse profile. Each summit has brought together a group of experienced and emerging landscape architects who identify as African American or Latinx to design strategies to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion in the field.
Founded in 2011, the ASLA Public Awareness Summit brings together representatives from ASLA’s 49 chapters to plan the coming year’s public awareness initiatives. Attendees participate in group discussions to determine public awareness strategies and tactics ASLA will implement nationally and locally for the year.
