RFP: New Orleans Citywide Parks and Recreation Master Plan

ASLA’s RFQs, Opportunities, and Events page provides the latest information on everything from calls for papers to competitions. Below, we highlight one recently submitted request for proposals. Anyone who would like to share an opportunity may submit information online.

The New Orleans Recreation Development Foundation is seeking a qualified consulting firm to provide professional services to develop a Comprehensive Citywide Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The selected firm will have proven experience and knowledge in park, facility and recreation planning, environmental resilience and stormwater management planning, park equity and access, project management, and public engagement.

The frame for this citywide master plan will focus on:

  1. expanding equitable access to parks and recreation, and
  2. building environmental resilience through the park and recreation system.

Recent research by Sasaki found that only 34% of New Orleans’ black residents live in high parkland areas compared to 55% of white residents. This is a stark example of the racial disparities in park access in New Orleans. The master plan will specifically address these racial inequalities by making recommendations on how to expand park access for communities of color.

July 8 is the deadline to submit. Learn more about this opportunity.
