Happy 8th Birthday to ASLA’s Your Path to Landscape Architecture

ASLA 2006 Professional General Design Honor Award. Columbus Circle, New York, New York. OLIN / OLIN & Peter Maus, ESTO

Released in February 2014, Your Path to Landscape Architecture was ASLA’s first website designed for high school and college students.

For eight years now, the website has been the leading Career Discovery resource that continues to inspire and guide students through the career discovery process.

From 2019-2021 and during the height of the COVID pandemic, Your Path received the highest levels of engagement, garnering approximately 83,000 views, and it remains the ideal tool to start high students on their path to exploration and discovery.

Using dazzling images of Columbus Circle in New York, Your Path to Landscape Architecture translates design research into visually inspiring experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education unique to landscape architecture.

Let’s Celebrate!

Here are five ways you can build on ASLA’s virtual celebration of Your Path to Landscape Architecture:

  • Learn more about the landscape architecture team at OLIN that won the ASLA 2006 Professional General Design Honor Award for Columbus Circle.
  • Connect with your local high school and offer to speak about landscape architecture using Your Path to Landscape Architecture.
  • Invite a group of high school students to your firm, talk about one of your local projects, and offer a walking tour of the site.
  • Post a picture of yourself introducing students to landscape architecture on Facebook, Twitter, and/or LinkedIn with the hashtags #CelebrateASLAYourPath #ASLACareerDiscovery, then tag ASLA National.
  • Join ASLA’s PreK-12 Educator Community and learn how you can participate in 2022 Career Discovery programs and activities, including ASLA’s Minecraft Design Camps and PreK-12 Virtual Summit DREAM BIG with Design.
