A Google Doodle on Olmsted’s Birthday

As we gear up for FLO’s 200th birthday in 2022, we’re thinking more and more about how we can #CelebrateOlmsted. One way that we can promote his legacy is through a Google Doodle. The Olmsted 200 campaign, alongside partners like the National Association for Olmsted Parks and ASLA, hopes to secure a drawing for Google’s homepage on April 26, 2022. These doodles are seen by millions of people everyday and will no doubt expose new audiences to Olmsted’s living legacy.
In order to make this happen, we need your help! Olmsted 200 believes that there is power in our diverse and passionate voices, so we are asking you to submit a personal request to Google for a FLO doodle. To do this, consider how Olmsted has inspired you, and in your own words, write a clear and concise appeal using the suggested talking points below. To submit, email your request to doodleproposals@google.com and bcc info@olmsted-200.org.
Suggested Talking Points:
- Connect to your organization’s specific mission and passion for FLO
- Demonstrate FLO’s relevance to contemporary issues that are important to you and your community today, such as sustainability and equity
- Use examples from your community to highlight FLO’s legacy of democratic spaces and values of community, health, and stewardship of the land
- Mention the bicentennial on April 26, 2022
