FHWA Seeking a Bike/Ped Coordinator – Landscape Architects Apply!

 ASLA has been working with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to identify opportunities for landscape architects, including identifying and promoting active transportation design guides and training webinars, internships for emerging professionals, and permanent positions suited for landscape architects. Currently, the FHWA Office of Human Environment is advertising a Transportation Specialist – GS-13/14 vacancy in Washington, D.C.--an opportunity to bring multimodal, bicycle, and pedestrian experience and skills to support safety and network connectivity improvements nationwide.

This position will play a major role in providing leadership for bicycle and pedestrian policies and programs, and providing outreach and technical assistance on related initiatives. The ideal candidate is a senior professional with an in-depth understanding of transportation planning policies, guidance, and legislation related to multimodal, bicycle, and pedestrian network planning, accelerating project delivery, and data-driven, systemic safety design. The ideal candidate is a senior professional with an in-depth understanding of transportation planning policies, guidance, and legislation related to multimodal, bicycle, and pedestrian network planning, accelerating project delivery, and data-driven, systemic safety design.
