X-STEM is a yearly “Extreme” symposium for middle and high school students featuring interactive presentations by an exclusive and diverse group of visionaries who aim to empower and inspire all youth about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). This year, X-STEM DC will feature ASLA member Brad Cantrell who will deliver a one-of-a-kind talk on Combining Technology With Nature — Aesthetically.

The success of the X-STEM event in Washington, D.C. has motivated festival leaders to extend participation to organizations, cities, and states across the U.S. “ASLA is thrilled to be part of X-STEM DC. This will be a unique and first-time opportunity for ASLA to put the landscape architecture stamp on STEM with organizers of the nation’s largest celebration of STEM while introducing the profession to students from underserved communities in Washington, D.C. and across the country. We are especially excited to have Brad Cantrell lead this important discussion,” said ASLA Career Discovery and Diversity Manager Lisa J. Jennings.
