Updates from ASLA

PARK(ing) Day Is This Friday!

ASLA encourages everyone to share parklets on social media using #ASLAPD.

Founded in 2005, PARK(ing) Day, this year on September 18, is a global, open-sourced event during which landscape architects and other professionals transform metered parking spaces into temporary, miniature parks, or parklets. ASLA has created a resource page to help members and others join the serious fun during this latest installment in ASLA’s ongoing campaign to raise public awareness of the profession.

Here are just five landscape design ideas for you to consider when creating your parklet September 18:

  • Host yoga in the park
  • Play board games
  • Stage live entertainment in a garden
  • Explore your campus
  • Design an urban space.

Regardless of where you are in the world, as you prepare to create your parklet, be sure to capture the memory, snap a photo, and share it with the American Society of Landscape Architects using the hashtag #ASLAPD! Your parklet could win a chance to be featured in a congratulatory advertisement in Landscape Architecture Magazine!
