ASLA-MN 2011 Awards Celebration and Gala
Network. Reconnect. Celebrate.
Friday, April 29. 5:30 p.m., Reception; 7:00 p.m., Dinner and Awards Program; 9:00 p.m., Desserts and Socializing
The Minikahda Club, Minneapolis
The annual awards celebration and gala is the marquee social event of ASLA-MN celebrating the landscape architecture profession, allied fields, and this year’s theme: The Legacy of Landscape Architect Theodore Wirth.
Jonathan Mueller, FASLA, president of the American Society of Landscape Architects, will be the featured speaker at this year’s event.
New Award Category
ASLA-MN is proud to announce a new award, the “Theodore Wirth Award for Excellence in Parks.” This award is designed to recognize excellence in the planning, design, development, administration, maintenance, or preservation of a historic site, a historic landmark, or cultural landscapes in a park, park system, or wildlife preserve.
The creation of the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes system was part of Theodore Wirth's efforts and was originally celebrated 100 years ago in 1911. The Minikahda Club was created in 1898 and is located along the shores of Lake Calhoun, the largest of the five lakes comprising the Chain of Lakes. Although the Minikahda Club is normally a private facility reserved only for members, ASLA-MN has been fortunate to secure it as this year’s venue.
There is something for everyone at this festive event. A bluegrass band will be on hand to entertain, vendors will be present to discuss their latest products and services, and guests will enjoy raffles, giveaways, and more!
You do not need to be a landscape architect or award winner to attend. ASLA-MN’s annual gala is a unique opportunity for all those working in allied professions to meet with one another in a casual atmosphere! Network with peers, reconnect with fellow alumni, and celebrate Minnesota's outdoor environment!
Who attends? Landscape architects, planners, architects, government employees and officials, vendors, landscapers, developers, leaders and members of affiliated organizations, students, UMN CDES alumni, and all others from allied professions! Register by April 15 at www.asla-mn.org.
