ASLA's support of the Great American Outdoors Act was featured in a press release from one of the bill's lead sponsors, Senator Rob Portman (OH).

“Our national parks are places of peace and beauty - places where human life and nature can truly grow together. But the severe lack of funding to repair critical infrastructure is crippling our national park system,” said Roxanne Blackwell, Hon. ASLA, Co-Interim Executive Vice President/CEO and Federal Government Affairs Director of the American Society of Landscape Architects. “Landscape architects helped design the first national park and have been involved in their planning and protection ever since. That’s why ASLA was so proud to see The Great American Outdoors Act introduced today. This is a necessary step toward addressing the nearly $12 billion deferred park maintenance backlog. ASLA strongly supports this legislation and we sincerely thank Sen. Portman for his years of leadership on this issue.”
