If you've ever taken your kids to a park, run down a dedicated trail, driven on a complete street, or simply sat outside in a public square – you've experienced landscape architecture.
During World Landscape Architecture Month, states all across the country are recognizing the important role of landscape architects in protecting the safety, health, and well-being of our families.

Florida

The ASLA Florida Chapter succeeded in championing a resolution in the Florida State Senate declaring April "Landscape Architecture Month."

"Florida and its citizenry benefit from the licensed practice of landscape architecture," the resolution states, "assuring the design of healthy, equitable, safe, and resilient public and private outdoor spaces."

The Prairie Gateway Chapter of ASLA worked with Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to secure a proclamation recognizing April as Landscape Architecture Month in the state of Kansas.

"Landscape architects, as licensed professionals, have a responsibility to protect public health by creating accessible spaces such as public plazas, parks, schools, residential common areas, playgrounds, and trails that lead to active lifestyles and healthy communities," reads the proclamation.
