2017 ASLA Licensure & Advocacy Grant Applications Available

Apply now! ASLA Government Affairs offers chapters the opportunity to apply for financial assistance through its Licensure & Advocacy Grant Program. The grant program provides chapters funding for activities that promote and defend licensure and for state or local advocacy efforts, including defending the right to practice from local challenges. In the past, Grant awardees have used funds for purposes of lobbying; production and printing of advocacy brochures; legislative breakfast/events; coalition dues; and a membership survey.

Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

1) Advocacy in support of establishing a Practice Act or preparing to defend licensure.

  • Other advocacy activities will also be considered, but licensure-relative activity will be given priority.
  • First priority is for jurisdictions without a Practice Act.

2) A strategic plan and demonstrated value of the proposal in the context of the chapter’s overall strategy.

3) Financial resources available to the chapter.

Weight will be given to smaller chapters, but this criterion will not preclude assistance to larger chapters.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate the chapter’s commitment to advocacy beyond what may be provided through the grant.

Chapter presidents must approve the application. The simple application form and supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. PDT, Friday, October 7, 2016.
