Description: Concerned about the future of our fresh water systems? Attend the FRESH WATER Symposium

Registration is open for FRESH WATER: Design Thinking for Inland Water Territories, an exciting symposium coming up September 13-15, 2018, hosted by the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois. The symposium emerges from a collective interest and concern for our fresh water future.

“Fresh water is a critical source of life for everyone, and yet it is under explored by the design professions. We need to come together to think about what our watersheds might look like in the future,” says Professor Jessica Henson, co-chair for the symposium.

The symposium will focus on how we can reverse the deterioration of our fresh water systems, moving beyond the site scale to explore flows and surfaces at a territorial scale. We’ll discover new insights when we bring together experts from ecology, engineering, policy, planning, design professions, and even the humanities. “I’m expecting really rich conversations,” says Professor and co-chair Mary Pat McGuire.
