HOLLY STREET OVERLAY AND DOWNTOWN DISTRICT DESIGN STANDARDS ES-496
Proposals Due: 11:00 AM 24 July 2014
The City of Bellingham Planning and Public Works Departments are soliciting statements of qualifications from interested consulting firms to provide planning, landscape architecture, engineering, environmental evaluation, surveying, permitting assistance, and/or cost estimating services. The City of Bellingham encourages disadvantaged, minority, and women-owned consultant firms to respond.
This project is a response to a currently outdated design standard at most intersections within the Bellingham Downtown District area that currently include brick pavers and concrete bollards. This 30-year old design standard is in need of assessment for pedestrian and bicycle safety and compliance with ADA and related standards. A comprehensive landscape and streetscape design standards is needed to support an attractive and vibrant downtown. In addition a stormwater management strategy should be included that considers current site constraints and regulatory considerations. A stormwater management strategy that includes low-impact development (LID) concepts such as bio-retention and porous surfaces is envisioned.
