Nature of the Position: Supports the general operations of the Finance department.

  • Prepares monthly billing and accounts receivable statements for all ASLA activities.
  • Performs accounts receivable collections, including follow-up letters and calls to delinquent accounts.
  • Processes and records payments (credit cards and live checks). Generates and reviews A/R reports.
  • Reviews (coding and approvals), records and process invoices for timely payment. Processes and mails checks. Generates and reviews A/P reports.
  • Prepares bank reconciliations for checking accounts and corporate credit card account.
  • Makes journal entries for processed checks, credit card items processed by the accounting department, and other bank reconciliation items.
  • Verifies daily lockbox receipts.
  • Resolves issues/discrepancies and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works in partnership with department supervisor and other ASLA staff and volunteers to advance the Society’s mission, strategic objectives, and priority issues.

Preferred Background/Experience

Education: High school graduate, with accounting and general office training; Bachelors preferred. 

Skills:  Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including a clear and courteous telephone manner and good writing skills.  Well organized with attention to detail.  Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.  Medium to advance knowledge of Microsoft Office and Solomon computer applications.

Experience:
 Minimum two years’ experience in accounting functions and collections.
