AMERICAN HYDROTECH SELECTED
FOR ASLA GREEN ROOF PROJECT
The American Society of Landscape Architects
Makes Headway on Green Roof Project
WASHINGTON, DC, March 16, 2006---The American Society of
Landscape Architects (ASLA) has selected American Hydrotech’s
Garden Roof® assembly for its green roof in downtown Washington,
DC.
“American Hydrotech’s products will serve as
the basis for our green roof system. We chose this assembly
because of its stormwater management capabilities as well
as its ability to improve the building’s energy efficiency.
And, American Hydrotech lends a great deal of technical expertise
to their projects and provides an outstanding warranty,”
said Nancy Somerville, executive vice president and CEO of
ASLA.
“We are very pleased that the American Society of Landscape
Architects has chosen the American Hydrotech Garden Roof Assembly
for the green roof on their headquarters building,”
said Steve Skinner, Garden Roof Project Manager for American
Hydrotech. “The project scope combines a beautiful aesthetic
vision with a variety of highly functional treatments that
demonstrate the many possibilities of a well designed green
roof. It was a pleasure being part of the team led by Michael
Van Valkenburgh Associates that found great practical solutions
to the many challenges we faced. The ASLA Green Roof will
serve as an inspiration to all who visit and to anyone else
considering building a green roof.”
The ASLA green roof will demonstrate the environmental and
esthetic value of green roofs; encourage more widespread use
of green roofs locally and nationally; and showcase the value
landscape architects bring to this type of project. The project
is scheduled for official dedication on April 22, 2006.
