About the Library
Until recently, the role of women in history has not well documented. The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America has been at the forefront of collecting, cataloging, and making available for research those papers, books, and other materials essential for understanding women’s lives and contributions. The Schlesinger Library is part of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University and is a national resource open to all.
Using the Library
The Schlesinger Library and the Radcliffe Archives are open to the public; no university affiliation is required. No appointment is needed, but researchers are advised to call ahead as certain collections are restricted and/or stored offsite. All visitors are required to register at the reception desk, show identification, and lock up their bags before using the library.
