Dober, Lidsky, Craig and Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Campus Master Plan for Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN was selected for Outstanding Designs in Campus Master Planning in the 2008 Architectural Portfolio published by American School and University. An important feature of MTSU’s campus design highlighted in the Campus Master Plan is the creation of a pedestrian-friendly environment. By moving parking to the perimeter, roadways will be eliminated or modified to restrict vehicular circulation through the campus core and a west-to-east central pedestrian spine will emerge. The spine will be reinforced by a mix of academic, administrative, athletic, library, residential and student-life buildings, and landscaped open spaces.
An annual competition honoring education design excellence, the Architectural Portfolio spotlights projects representing some of the most effective learning environments in America. This is the 26th year the competition has been held. Featured projects include designs that revitalize and refresh school and university campuses. The jury considered the following specific criteria to make its selections: great spaces for learning that are well-designed, multi-faceted, accommodating technology, and sustainable/maintainable.
