It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our fellow officers. Patrick Curran, ASLA, died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on June 2nd after struggling with cancer. Patrick was one of the founding officers of the ASLA SDD PPN, and a key advocate and volunteer in its efforts to create and promote the Sustainable Sites Initiative. His energy and devotion in discussing the possibilities and providing two of the sections of the SITESS Draft back in 2005, not to mention his lively discussions and outreach influenced a great many individuals. His contribution to our effort has been invaluable, and many of us also had the blessing of being his friend and colleague as well. While we mourn the loss of his company, we also recognize that his contribution to our work is immeasurable, and will live on as the Sustainable Sites Initiative continues in its development and influence in making the world a better place. If you knew Patrick and wish to commemorate his life, his family suggests planting a tree in his honor, as a forest across the country in his name would certainly be a tribute.
