Call for Entries
The Bloomington, Indiana, Percent for the Arts program invites entries in a national, open, one-stage competition to design public bus shelters on a gateway thoroughfare into the city. A jury will select three winning designs for fabrication and installation in 2003. Application materials are due February 15, 2002. Eligibility: Open to American artists, architects, designers, and students

Competition Goal: The Bloomington Community Art Commission's Percent for the Arts Program seeks proposals for three new bus shelters to be installed along a thoroughfare that will be improved and widened as part of a major transportation project in 2002. Third Street, the principal entry to Bloomington from the west, will be redesigned to serve as a gateway corridor to South Central Indiana's cultural capital. The sponsors welcome visually exciting, sturdy, functional designs for shelters and benches in any materials.
