Members of the media may apply for press credentials
to attend and cover the ASLA Annual Meeting. Approved media
will receive a complimentary meeting registration and access
to the ASLA press room. To apply, fill out the
registration form and fax to the attention of Ashley Owens,
ASLA public relations manager, at 202-898-1187.
Interview Opportunities
Members of the media can also arrange for
on-site interviews or telephone interviews prior to the meeting

The acclaimed French landscape architect will discuss her
work, which is noted for fostering a connection between person
and location.

Kongjian Yu,
International ASLA
Dr. Yu is the Dean and Professor of the Graduate School of
Landscape Architecture at Peking University and founder of
the award-winning firm, Turenscape. His firm is the first
private sector landscape architecture firm in China. He will
give a global perspective on the profession and discuss the
U.S. impact on China.

Friedberg, FASLA
As part of the Landscape Legends Oral History Initiative of
The Cultural Landscape Foundation, Friedberg will discuss

Martha
Schwartz, ASLA
Martha Schwartz is a landscape architect and artist
with a major interest in urban projects and the exploration
of new design expression in the landscape. Schwartz is the
recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including the Cooper-Hewitt
Museum National Design Award for her body of work in Landscape
Architecture.

Ken Smith,
ASLA
Smith’s award winning projects are primarily in the
realm of urban public space. He designed the roof of the Museum
of Modern Art and is currently designing the largest park
project in the country - the Orange County Great Park. He
will accompany Tom Oslund, FASLA, as a speaker in “Inside
the LA Studio: Residential Design with Tom Oslund and Ken
Smith”.

Tom Oslund,
FASLA
Oslund, a principal of oslund.and.assoc. in Minneapolis, is
one of the leading design landscape architects in the country.
His work has won numerous awards and he was the recipient
of the prestigious Rome Prize from the American Academy in
Rome in 1992. He will discuss his extensive portfolio in residential
design and will accompany Ken Smith, ASLA, as a speaker in
“Inside the LA Studio: Residential Design with Tom Oslund
and Ken Smith”.

Steve
Martino, FASLA
Martino is this year’s recipient of the ASLA Design
Medal and the Award of Excellence for Residential Design.
He will discuss sustainable design in the Southwest and his
many award-winning projects.

Barbara Faga,
FASLA
Faga is chair of the board of EDAW and is a landscape architect
and urban designer with more than 25 years of experience emphasizing
urban projects. Faga is a subject matter expert on developing
public consensus among myriad stakeholders for major projects
affecting the public realm.

Dean Hill,
ASLA, host of the DIY network’s “Grounds For Improvement”
Hill will be on site to construct - with the aid of local
students - a residential demonstration project, entitled “Sustainability
With Style”. He will also be on hand in the EXPO hall
to answer questions from the general public on Saturday, Oct.
7 (12-5) and Sunday, Oct. 8 (12-5).

Caughey and Somerville will discuss new survey results on

General Meeting Info
Pre-registered members of the media can bypass registration
at the annual meeting and come directly to the press room
to receive their registration packets and meeting badges.
Members of the media may also register in the press room the
day of the event.
The general public can attend the EXPO
for free on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. each
day. Attendance at any other event requires registration
(available on site).
