| Friday, October 7 These courses have been approved by the Florida Department of Community Affairs/Florida Building Commission to satisfy the two-hour Advanced Building Code continuing education requirement for Florida Registered Landscape Architects for their Licensure Renewal. Florida Licensees who have met the Core Course requirement in the previous biennium are required to attend a 2-hour Advance Course on Uniform Building code for future renewals. Landscape Irrigation Landscape Architecture Law The role of landscape architects in the planning and design of irrigation systems has grown dramatically in the past few years. Landscape architects must be able to synthesize all the regulatory requirements and water use constraints and apply them in a way that satisfies the clients’ budget and maintenance capabilities. In this session you’ll learn about the regulatory agencies and Florida Statutes, rule and code requirements for landscape irrigation water use, and irrigation system design. Landscape architects from less regulated parts of the country will learn concepts they can adopt for water conservation and ways to protect potable, ground, and surface water quality when using different water sources. Cavaioli, ASLA, Hoover Pumping Systems Pools and Spas Advanced Building Code Participants will develop an understanding of and learn about the Florida Building Code construction and inspection requirements for residential pools and spas in the State of Florida. Termites Advanced Building Code Participants will develop an understanding of the termite’s life cycle and the environment that promotes its distribution and learn about the Florida Building Code for structures and irrigation requirements to prevent termite infestation.
