New Orleans, Louisiana

LONGUE VUE HOSTS 5TH ANNUAL CATHERINE BROWN MEMORIAL WOMEN IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE LECTURE.

A special opportunity is available during the meeting in New Orleans. Longue Vue House and Gardens is hosting its annual Catherine Brown Memorial “Women in Landscape Architecture Lecture” on Thursday, October 30, at 6:00pm. Featured speaker Miriam "Mia" Guttfreund Lehrer, ASLA, will present “A Woman's Place: A Woman's Perspective in the Making of Multicultural Public Places.” The lecture takes place in the Longue Vue House and is followed by a reception. Advanced reservations are required and an admission donation is requested.

This year’s speaker is the founding partner of Mia Lehrer + Associates in Los Angeles, California, a firm which has developed a diverse range of public and private projects from the coast of El Salvador to residential gardens of California and Arizona. Her work embodies the philosophy that the public landscape has tremendous enlightening potential.

The Catherine Brown Memorial Lecture was established in 1999 to honor this Louisiana native and nationally recognized expert on urban design and to further the work of women in landscape architecture.
