2003 ASLA Annual Meeting
& EXPO
October 30 - November 3, 2003
New Orleans, Louisiana
GENERAL SESSIONS
Once again, ASLA has reached outside the realm of landscape architecture
to bring voices that reflect but do not necessarily echo the profession.
At the Opening General Session on Friday morning, both Dr. Richard Jackson
and Joel Kotkin join in challenging landscape architects to rethink their
assumptions about the roles and responsibilities they have in achieving
vital landscapes in a rapidly changing world. The general session on Saturday
morning features Steve Thomas, host of the PBS television show, This
Old House. He’ll discuss his work on the show and his belief
in the value of landscape architecture to the overall success of a dwelling.
At the Closing General Session on Sunday afternoon, noted political commentator
James Carville brings his own brand of wit and humor to the subject of
politics and also to his experiences as a “native son” of
Louisiana.
The Professional Awards will be presented at a separate session on Friday,
from noon-1:00pm, which highlights the recognition given to the award
recipients. The students gather at their own general session immediately
following this awards presentation where they honor their award winners
and hear from a keynote speaker of their choosing.
