Getting to San Jose and Getting Around

Airline/Rental Car Travel Discounts:
ASSOCIATION TRAVEL CONCEPTS (ATC) has been selected as the official travel agency for the 2002 ASLA Annual Meeting & EXPO to be held in San Jose, October 18-22, 2002. As the official agency, ATC has negotiated discounts with United, Continental, Avis and Alamo Rental Car to bring you special airfares and car rental rates that are lower than those available to the public. When calling ATC, you will save 10% to 15% on United and Continental Airline tickets purchased more than 60 days prior to the meeting. For tickets purchased less than 60 days prior, the discounts will be 5% to 10% of the lowest available fares. Some restrictions may apply and a service fee may apply. ATC will also search for the lowest available fare on ANY airline serving San Jose.

To Downtown from the Airport:
Upon arrival at San Jose International Airport a variety of ground transportation options are available.
Check in at the Visitor Information Booth. One is located in each terminal to assist you with getting around San Jose and the entire Bay Area.

The free Airport Flyer Shuttle can be taken from the Airport to the Metro/Light Rail Station. The Light Rail then runs to downtown San Jose. Schedules and prices can be obtained at the Airport. (Airport Flyer and Light Rail 408-321-2300, www.vta.org).

Taxi service is readily available and located outside the San Jose International Airport. Expect to pay a one-way cost of $20-30. Commercial shuttles are also available for about $12-30.

To San Francisco International Airport:

The Airport Flyer can be taken from the Airport to the Santa Clara Caltrain station. From there, take Caltrain to the Millbrae station where a regularly scheduled free Caltrain-SFO shuttle bus goes direct to the terminals of San Francisco International Airport. Expect to pay $65-$70 in a taxi and $35-$45 by commercial shuttle.

To San Francisco - Downtown:
The Airport Flyer runs from the Airport to the Santa Clara Caltrain station. From there, Caltrain can be taken directly into San Francisco. (Airport Flyer 408-321-2300, www.vta.org; Caltrain 800-660-4287, www.transitinfor.org/caltrain.)

In San Jose and Santa Clara County:

Buses (VTA), 408-321-2300
Departures are every 15-30 minutes weekdays. Bus line 22 provides services 24-hours a day.

Light Rail (VTA), 408-321-2300
Seven days a week, 24-hours a day. Trains operate every 10-15 minutes weekdays, and every 15 minutes Saturdays, Sundays and holiday; every 30 minutes evenings.

Free Shuttles:
Airport Flyer, 408-321-2300
Service to San Jose International Airport, Santa Clara Caltrain station and Metro/Airport Light Rail station. Departures are every 10 minutes on weekdays; every 15 minutes on weekends.

Arena Shuttle Service, 408-321-230
Service between the Sa Jose Arena, Santa Clara and Paseo de San Antonio Light Rail stations and selected downtown parking garages is available at regular intervals before and after all major Arena events.

Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) 408-279-1775
Service connects Caltrain station with Light Rail line, transit mall, Convention Center and San Jose State University. Shuttle runs from 6:15am-10:25pm with 10-minutes intervals.

Parking:
San Jose is the only major metropolis in the Bay Area to offer free parking to its visitors. Visitors to the Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose Museum of Art or other San Jose area attractions will find their trip to downtown San Jose a little less expensive with the city's free parking program.

Free parking is available on weekdays after 6 p.m. and all day on weekends and holidays at seven downtown parking locations:

Market & San Pedro Street Garage
(Between Santa Clara and St. John Streets.)

Third Street Garage
(Between Santa Clara and St. John Streets.)

Second and San Carlos Street Garage
(Between Second and Third Streets, north of San Carlos Street and next to Camera Cinemas.)

San Fernando and Third Street Surface Lot
(Between Second and Third Streets, north of the San Jose Repertory Theater.)

Pavilion Surface Lot
(On San Fernando Street, between First and Second Streets.)

Pavilion Garage
(On Second Street, between San Fernando and San Carlos Streets.)
