Professional Practice Network News

Members of the Professional Practice Networks (PPNs) were recently surveyed about their favorite spaces. Responses were varied and had many insightful comments and suggestions, which will be shared and discussed with everyone here over the next few months.

This week we will return to favorite iconic spaces.

There were many, many iconic favorite spaces mentioned by PPN members, and we summarized them here a few weeks ago, but as these are all suggestions from our PPNs, we wondered if their PPN focus influenced their favorite places.

This was not a scientific survey, so probably no official “significant differences” will show up, but there were a few interesting themes:
  • Two of the three submissions from members of the Water Conservation PPN mentioned the Grand Canyon as their favorite iconic space.
  • Healthcare and Therapeutic Design PPN members that responded chose Central Park or Paley Park in New York City.
  • 20 percent of Campus Planning Design PPN respondents chose the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as their favorite iconic space.
No other themes emerged; it is interesting to see that our favorite iconic spaces are more than a result of our concentration, but of our travels, memories, and experiences.
