A Picnic at The Shire
July 15, 5:00 p.m., $150

Beginning in 1966, architect John Yeon shaped a mile-long stretch of the Columbia River Gorge into a unique merging of landscape and art he dubbed the Shire. A profound reflection on landscape history and his three decades of efforts to preserve the region's landscape, it became the birthplace of the Friends of the Columbia Gorge, the powerful advocacy group that would shape the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Act. See the article about Yeon and the Shire here.

Please join us for a tour of this inspirational landscape!
