Arbor Day Foundation Announces Call for Presentations
Deadline to submit proposals for the Partners in Community Forestry conference is May 2.

The Arbor Day Foundation and The Home Depot Foundation are seeking proposals from diverse disciplines that address important issues related to community forestry for the second annual Partners in Community Forestry National Conference. The conference will be held in Atlanta November 18–20, 2008, and will focus on a variety of issues related to community forestry including community tree management, trees and development, and the contribution that trees make to the social and physical health of the community.

Conference organizers are seeking programs in a variety of formats, with a special interest in presentations that include an audiovisual element, audience participation, and other unique approaches to the following focus areas: Trees and Development, Trees and Social Issues, and Community Forestry Management. Detailed subcategories for each of these topics are available online. Programs can range from 30 to 60 minutes in length. Sessions should appeal to the variety of professionals and volunteers who influence our community forests and encourage meaningful discussion and networking opportunities. Conference organizers are hoping to build on previous successes by involving new and nontraditional partners who can bring new perspectives to community tree efforts.

Interested individuals can submit proposals via mail, fax, or email until May 2. To begin the submission process, complete the online proposal form. Program selections will be made by May 30, and selected presenters will receive a complimentary conference registration.
